
With over 30 years of progressive experience as a senior executive in the healthcare industry, Mr. Fitz has developed extensive knowledge and competencies across a wide array of healthcare operations. Specific experience includes over 20 years as CEO of several acute care hospitals ranging from 100 to over 300 beds with demonstrated success in improving quality and realizing growth in market share and operating margin at each organization. Additionally, Mr. Fitz has over 10 years consulting experience with the CEO’s and senior executives of several of the largest healthcare systems in the nation regarding complex business issues requiring large scale organizational change.
Mr. Fitz recently served as a National Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award administered through the US Department of Commerce. His unrelenting focus on improving quality and improving operational outcomes recently resulted in his health system being named Large Hospital of the Year and being recognized as having the highest overall quality of any hospital in the state. Mr. Fitz was featured in the American Hospital Association’s Trustee magazine in March 2008 for his quality initiatives. As a former Partner with Ernst & Young, he has planned, designed and implemented the merger of a large community hospital with a large faith based hospital. Additionally, he has designed and implemented the turnarounds of several acute care hospitals to include developing performance improvement initiatives for several academic medical centers. Mr. Fitz served as the national account leader for several key clients of the firm.
In addition to an MBA, Mr. Fitz earned an economics degree from Duke University. Mr. Fitz is married with three children.
